Leroy Walker’s bench press tips for weightlifters
1. Incorporate 2 heavy lifting days on bench press into your workout training.
2. Incorporate 1 Day of pure TRICEP training. No longer think of triceps as an auxiliary lift. The muscle is responsible for 60-70% of the bench.
3. Be sure to get a greater amount of carbohydrates in before the heavy days of training. Do not try to cut calories and increase bench.
4. You must be consistent in adding the frequency of bench days. The added days must be followed for 2-3 months to see huge gains.
5. Be dedicated to constant improvement. Video record workouts so you can see if your movement is consistent. The more control you have, the less likely you are to get injured. Less pain is more gain on the pounds that will add up to an increased max bench.
Powerlifter Leroy "The Machine" Walker says all benchers should have proper wrist support while lifting. His favorite brand is the Villain Wrist Wraps by TuffWraps.com.
Have you ever felt pain in your wrist when lifting heavy?
“The whole idea of using Villain Wrist Wraps is to reduce the amount of stress and wrist extension, that weightlifters experience when lifting heavy," said Leroy "The Machine" Walker, an elite powerlifter who has bench pressed over 600 lbs in competition. The Villain Wrist Wraps are a new line of wrist wraps from TuffWraps.
The brand is not just for those new to working out. “TuffWraps is the sound of a revolution in weightlifting and powerlifting gear,” he says. “Fitness companies are always adding products, but this is the only company changing the way wrist wraps are used.”
Leroy "The Machine" Walker believes in getting stronger, and he does not bench without his Villain Wrist Wraps. When asked what is in his gym bag he responded “Villain Wrist Wraps, of course... I don't care for those old school wrist wraps with the annoying thumb loops, Villain Wrist Wraps are very supportive with the belt loop tightening system, and super comfortable which makes my workouts even better.”
"There is pressure to lift more when competing against elite powerlifters," Walker says. "I could not have done it without the use of my Villain Wrist Wraps."
The products come in various lengths such as 16", 24" and 30" for the serious weightlifters. The longer the wrist wrap, the more support you can expect. There’s a belt loop tightening system which helps to secure and support your wrists. The belt loop allows you to tighten your wrist wraps as tight as you want them. The “old school thumb loop” causes your wrist wraps to become loose when lifting.
These are extremely comfortable, and the unique blend of cotton, elastic, and polyester absorbs excess moisture and won’t irritate the skin. Leroy says, "Villain Wrist Wraps material is far superior and it's the fabric that sets them apart from the other wrist wraps in the market."
The last and most important feature is the Double Velcro Attachment sites. "These allow me to secure my wrist wraps without the worry of them coming off during that heavy lift" Leroy says. The multiple attachment sites allow for a secure wrist wrap around your wrist.
Villain Wrist Wraps range from $24.99 to $29.99 depending on the length and color. These are sold only on their website.
"I am so confident that you will love Villain Wraps that they even offer a 30-day money back guarantee with no questions asked. Why don't you give them a try and if you are not happy just pack them up and send them back," Leroy says.
